The Legend of Zorro, starring Antonio Banderas
and Catherine
Zeta-Jones, was released on January 31, 2006. In some areas, the
film is boxed with the 1998 blockbuster The Mark of Zorro.
In it's first week of release in movie
theatres, The Legend of Zorro was
#1 in international box office receipts.
Once again starring Antonio Banderas and
Catherine Zeta-Jones, The Legend of
Zorro begins
ten years later as California is poised to join the United
States. Alejandro de la Vega/Zorro and his wife Elana
confront challenges in their marriage and with their incorrigible
ten-year old son.
Here's what some critics have said:
"The Legend of Zorro... is a
movie-movie - big, lush and sexy... Who
doesn't love the caballero who first swashes, then squashes, evil under
his silver spur?... Like Banderas, the film has a twinkle in its
gait... A fiesta will be had by all." - Carrie Rickey, Philadelphia
Inquirer
"... a spirited revival of the old-fashioned and
supremely
entertaining legend... The kid... is a firecracker. His swordfight,
using yardsticks, with his priest-schoolteacher is one of the most
delightful popcorn moments the movies have given us all year... Epic
sword fights... and a train chase... all done with PG lightness makes
the whole thing just float by." - Roger Moore, Orlando Sentinel
