Classic Zorro

·    Dynamite Entertainment – Debuted in Feb. 2008, a comic series and graphic novel compilation based on Isabel Allende’s bestseller, Zorro, a novel (2005).  Subsequent issues of 22 pages each appearing monthly.  A trade version of the first eight issues combined in 2009. Click here.

    MoonstoneTales of ZORRO, an anthology of 17 all-new stories Zorro stories written by contemporary authors.  For release Spring 2008.  Edited by Richard Dean Starr (Hellboy, Kolchak: The Night Stalker), the collection includes special introductory pieces by Isabel Allende and Guy Williams, Jr., as well as original contributions from Max Allen Collins, Greg Cox, A.C. Crispin, Peter David, Loren D. Estleman, and Ed Gorman. Click here.

·  Harper Collins and many others for simultaneous worldwide publication - Internationally acclaimed writer, Isabel Allende, has created the classic legend of
El Zorro in her bestseller, ZORRO, a novel. Richly textured, dramatic in scope, imaginative, innovative, and charming, Allende sets the stage for unfolding the dramatic folk hero to readers. Originally published May 2005.  Paperback version published in May 2006.  Click here.

·  Harper Childrens’ - Inspired by Isabel Allende's Zorro novel, Young Zorro: The Iron Brand introduces readers to Diego and his best friend, Bernardo, in their youth as they develop the skills necessary for the later exploits of Zorro.  Their adventures are marked by adventure, humor, cleverness, a passion for justice and action in the unique historical landscape of Spanish California in the early. Available in hardcover in English and in paperback in both English and Spanish.  Target market 8-12 year olds.  120 pages.  Initially published January 2006.  Click here.

·  Hyperion Press (a division of Disney) published Zorro Unmasked, the official history of Zorro (1998). It is a comprehensive look at the character since his creation in 1919, written by Sandra Curtis, Senior Vice President of Zorro Productions.

·  Pulp Adventures published two volumes of some of  Johnston McCulley’s original Zorro stories in Zorro, The Masters Edition. Two volumes were published in 2000 and 2001, consisting of short, serialized stories, some of which appeared for the first time in complete form since their initial publication in pulp magazines such as All Story Weekly.

·  TOR published a series of novels based upon the classic character. The three volumes are entitled Zorro and the Jaguar Warriors, by Jerome Preisler, Zorro and the Shadow Riders, by David Bergantino, and Zorro and the Witch's Curse, by John Whitman.

·  Creator's Syndicate distributed a daily and Sunday newspaper comic strip that appeared in newspapers and magazines throughout the U.S. and the world from April 1999 to April 2001. Zorro Productions, in conjunction with Image Comics, republished the first year of the strip in 2002 as Zorro, the Dailies - The First Year. Veteran comic book writer Don McGregor authored the strip with Thomas Yeates' dramatic illustrations.

·  Hemma published four original illustrated Zorro storybooks in French aimed at younger children. Approximately 128 pages each.

·  Flammarion/Pere Castor published four original illustrated Zorro stories in French for younger children. Approximately 64 pages each.

·  Hachette published 18 original Zorro novels for younger children at 128 to 190 pages each.

·  Edicart published a series of childrens’ books including board books, young reader stories, lenticular books, pop-up books and coloring books.

Movie Zorro

·  Harper Collins - Movie novelization, The Legend of Zorro (2005), junior novelization and assorted movie tie-in books.

·  Pocket Books published the official adult novelization of the movie The Mask Of Zorro (1998) by Jim Luceno.

·  Pocket Books also published a junior novelization of the movie The Mask of Zorro (1998) by Frank Luria as well as three additional junior novels that are based on the movie characters but which tell original stories.

·  Chronicle Books published a movie novelization based on The Mask of Zorro comprised of facing pages of text (approx. 5000 words) and line-drawn illustrations. It is suitable for both children and adults.

·  Mango published La Legende de Zorro, a short history of the character with stories and color photographs from the movie set along with a text summary of the film

·  Burgschmiet Verlag published Die Maske des Zorro, a comprehensive photographic version of the film The Mask of Zorro with a text summary in German.

·  Edigamma published a sticker album based upon The Mask of Zorro.

Television Zorro

·  Thienemann in Germany originally published 7 novelizations based loosely on the New World television series. These books were written by Sandra Curtis, Senior Vice President of Zorro Productions, and have been published in 7 languages thus far.

·  Topps Italia has published a sticker album based upon the Warner Bros. animated Zorro series.

·  Edizione Play Press published a variety of coloring and activity books based upon the Warner Bros. animated Zorro series.

·  Egmont published a variety of coloring and activity books based on the Warner Bros. animated Zorro series.

Other

·  Gold Rush Entertainment published a role-playing game rulebook and game board, which imaginatively immerses the players in the world of Zorro.

Zorro Comic Publishing List

·  Matanzas:  Dramatic and exciting original Zorro storylines created by artist Mike Mayhew and writer Don McGregor.  Four stories, 24 pages each.  Inked pages, color covers.  Not yet published in the U. S., but of very fine quality.

 ·  Papercutz: Manga style comics and graphic novels written by veteran comic book author Don McGregor.  Six comic books were released of 28 pages each.  Two graphic novels were combined from these comics entitled: Scars and Drownings.  A third graphic novel entitled Vultures was also released.  Each graphic novel is 88 pages and available in both paperback and hardcover.  There is a charge of $10/page for the digital files for the Papercutz material.

·  Weekly Comic Strip: In conjunction with Image Comics, Zorro Productions reprinted our weekly newspaper comic strip for worldwide publication. Distributed initially by Creator's Syndicate, Zorro, the Dailies - The First Year is in trade paperback. Each week consists of 6 black and white daily strips and one larger color strip for Sundays. There are five complete story cycles of 14, 37, 11, 25 and 18 weeks respectively (105 weeks total). The daily and Sunday newspaper comic strip appeared in newspapers and magazines throughout the U.S. and the world from April 1999 to April 2001. Veteran comic book writer Don McGregor authored the strips with Thomas Yeates' dramatic illustrations.

·  Jungle: Comic album in the French style of 48 pages in large format.

·  Alex Toth / Disney: There are 16 stories for a total of 230 pages based upon the original Disney television series. Currently, this film only exists in Black and White on CD-ROM.

·  The Mask of Zorro: There are four 22-page issues (88 pages total) based upon the 1998 TriStar film. Written by Don McGregor, with art by Mike Mayhew.

·  Topps: 18 Zorro issues exist, for a total of 460 pages plus covers. Most of this material was originally published by Topps Comics. The writer for all issues was Don McGregor, with most of the art by Mike Mayhew. Only 16 issues are available on CD-ROM. Two issues (Zorro versus Dracula) exist on film but have not yet been digitized.

·  Lady Rawhide: Lady Rawhide appeared for the first time in Topps #3 and became so popular in the U.S. that we spun her out and gave her a series of her own. There are currently 12 Lady Rawhide issues of 24 pages each, split into two stories of five issues. There is also a compilation of the first set of five stories in the trade paperback entitled
It Can't Happen Here.  Two separate story issues of  86 pages each were published entitled The Lady Wears Red and Renegades. 

·  ll Giornolino: 33 stories based upon the Mondo animated TV series. Each story is from 9 to12 pages (319 pages altogether). Zorro is featured on 13 covers. This Italian comic material is of good quality, however, it is suitable only for younger ages.

·  Marvel: There are 12 issues of 20 pages each based upon the New World television series. This material is available on film only. We do not believe that the quality of the artwork is very good, but it is adequate for filler. We have no cost estimate on this at this time.

·  Edi-Monde / Zorro in Old California: There are 12 stories for a total of 120 pages. This material was originally produced for Le Journal de Mickey in France. No files or film exist at the moment, so it would need to be scanned and prepped for publishing.
